HISTORY

In 1962, Sunset Church of Christ in Carlsbad, NM established Skyridge Christian Camp as a place where children could enjoy the outdoors in a safe and Christ-like environment. This camp grew over time, and was hosting upwards of 600 campers each summer. In May of 2000, a devastating fire destroyed Skyridge, forcing Sunset to look for a new camp location. Knowing the importance that Skyridge held to the youth in the area, Sunset Church of Christ purchased and opened Mountain View Christian Camp (MVCC) within the following year.

Located in the Sierra Blanca Mountains of New Mexico, between Ruidoso and Capitan, MVCC is again serving the Youth of New Mexico and west Texas by giving them a space to grow closer to Christ. We are fully committed to providing a Christ centered experience each summer to our campers and we know and have faith that God will continue to make an impact through MVCC.

MISSION

MVCC exists to provide a camping experience where God is seen, His love felt, and lives are transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. Getting away to the mountains, and nearer to God’s creation helps MVCC provide an environment that is ideal for revealing God’s power. Our campers feel God’s love as they are ministered to by our college age staff members. God uses these young staff members in powerful ways as they counsel, teach, and encourage our campers. As our campers have fun, develop friendships, and find role models among our staff, a deep desire to know God is rooted. Campers' faith can come alive because they relate to the person teaching them through traditions and fun, making a powerful impact. Our mission is simply to facilitate this experience so that lives may be changed and so that God may be glorified in our efforts.

WHAT TO EXPECT
